Ornus Dell' Ornellaia, Tuscana Bianco IGT 2017 (375ml)
Country/ Region:
Tuscany, Italy
Background:
Ornus dell'Ornellaia Toscana Bianco IGT 2017 (375ml) is a rare, late-harvest dessert wine produced in extremely limited quantities on the Tuscan coast. It is crafted entirely from Petit Manseng grapes grown in the tiny "Palmetta" vineyard, known for showcasing balanced acidity and a complex, viscous profile.
Winemaking:
The grapes are left on the vine to undergo a late harvest, taking advantage of the mild, breezy autumns in Bolgheri to concentrate sugars and flavors. The grapes are carefully pressed, fermented, and aged to strike a delicate balance between sweetness and the natural, vibrant acidity typical of the Petit Manseng grape.
Grapes: 100% Petit Manseng
Tasting note:
The intense yet delicate nose discloses white fruits (pear, peach) and apricot underpinned by Ornus dell’Ornellaia was inspired by passion for our terroir and by the desire to explore its potential in producing great sweet wines, favoured by the typically mild and particularly breezy autumn in Bolgheri. Ornus dell’Ornellaia 2017, with its typical bright golden-yellow colour, develops refined scents of bitter almond and dry apricot to the nose. The first impression on the palate is soft and enveloping and the acidic vein typical of Petit Manseng gives length and verticality to the finish.
Food Pairing:
The best food pairings are rich cheeses, savory-sweet appetizers, and elegant desserts. For example, blue cheese & foie gras tarte Tatin, almond pastries or Prosciutto di Parma wrapped around melon.
