Background:
Riverby Estate is a boutique wine producer, occupying a prime site in Marlborough's Jacksons Road heartland. All grapes are grown on the estate vineyard by descendants of the Matthews family, who have been farming the property for over 100 years.

Winemaking:
The grapes were harvested in the cool of the night to retain the classical Sauvignon characters. This wine was mostly fermented and handled in stainless steel with a small portion in aged oak to add complexity.

Tasting note:
It is a delicate pale straw, even a tinge of green, in colour, with a glorious ripe, tropical nose displaying black passionfruit, pineapple, banana, citrus and capsicum. As the nose broadens it reveals ripe tropical flavours of mango, stone-fruits and honey dew melon, with a hint of boxwood, to accompany the limey citrus and appealing herbal notes. The palate is smooth, elegant and rich with ripe peach, nectarine and mandarin hints.

Food Pairing:
Pair beautifully with goat cheese (chèvre), feta, veggie dishes, oysters, garlic prawns, ceviche, or sushi. The bright acidity of the wine acts like a squeeze of fresh lemon over the fish.
