La Dame de Montrose 2017 (750ml) - 2nd wine of Ch. Montrose (2nd GCC)

Country/ Region:
Bordeaux, France

Background:
La Dame de Montrose 2017 was made from the same vineyard as the Grand Vin, with a superb location on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, and was developed with the same attention and precision to detail. The vinifications were carried out in a way that respects the expression of each parcel contributing to the blend.

Winemaking:
It is crafted with the same meticulous standards as the Grand Vin, delivering a silky, approachable profile that highlights the estate's exceptional terroir. Hand-harvested parcels are vinified separately in the estate's ultra-precise, small-capacity vats to preserve individual terroir expressions. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (approximately 30% new oak).

Grapes: 49% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc

Tasting note:
Delicate and vibrant in its expression, the nose opens with freshly crushed raspberry and blackberry, polished with elegant floral notes. On the palate, the wine charms with its creamy texture and chiseled tannins, which coat the mouth. The palate remains precise and straightforward, stretching into a fresh and refined finish. A Dame de Montrose full of grace and elegance.

Food Pairing:
Pair it with rich, umami-driven red meats, such as, p an-seared ribeye, grilled lamb chops, or slow-braised beef short ribs. The wine's acidity cuts through rich marbling, while its tannins bind to protein.

Scores:
Robert Parker: 92/100
James Suckling: 94/100
