Chevalier de Lascombes Margaux AOC Rouge 2019 (750ml)
Country/ Region:
Margaux, Medoc, Bordeaux, France
Background:
Chevalier de Lascombes Margaux AOC Rouge 2019 (750ml) is the second wine of Chateau Lascombes, a renowned Second Growth estate in Bordeaux's Margaux appellation. Crafted for earlier accessibility while mirroring its "Grand Vin" pedigree, the 2019 blend typically features equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Winemaking:
Grapes are grown in the prestigious Margaux appellation on complex soils consisting of gravelly hills, clay-gravel, and clay-calcareous beds. The winemaking process focuses on a "mild infusion" and cold maceration period lasting 30 to 35 days, with the exact duration strictly determined by daily tastings. The wine is traditionally aged in French oak barrels and casks to develop complex secondary characteristics while softening its tannin structure.
Grapes: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon & 50% Merlot
Tasting note:
Gorgeous color on the pour, deep purple rim. On the nose black currant, stone fruit, chocolate and vanilla. On the pallet, nutmeg, red fruits & oaky vanilla. Medium acidity full bodied.
Food Pairing:
Its refined elegance pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, grilled red meats, and earthy vegetarian dishes. For example, roasted lamb chops with rosemary or beef wellington.
Scores:
Major wine publications—including Decanter, Vinous, and Bettane & Desseauve—have consistently awarded this second wine of Château Lascombes a 90/100 rating, praising its velvety, elegant texture and expressive black fruit notes.
