Chateau Lascombes 2012 (750ml) (Second Growth Grand Cru Classe)

Country/ Region:
Margaux, Bordeaux, France

Background:
Château Lascombes is a well-regarded and critically well-received wine estate in the Margaux appellation of the Haut-Médoc, just north of Bordeaux city. The estate produces a classic Bordeaux Blend wine known for its deep colour, rich texture, ripe fruit and elegant tannic structure. It was ranked a second growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification.

Winemaking:
Produced at its gravity-led winery in Bordeaux, France, the wine undergoes plot-by-plot vinification, an extended 30-40 day maceration, and is aged for 18 months in approximately 80% new French oak.

Grapes: 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 48% Merlot & 4% Petit Verdot

Tasting note:
The wine is initially discreet on the nose, gradually revealing gentle fruity notes as the glass is swirled. On the palate, it opens fresh and flavourful, showing good concentration and fine tannins, with the fruit character becoming more prominent toward the finish.

Food Pairing:
To balance its structure and silky texture, pair it with savory, protein-rich dishes. For example, ribeye steak, beef tenderloin, venison, duck breast, grilled tuna steak, portobello mushrooms or lentil stews.
