La Sirene de Giscours 2017 (750ml)
2nd wine of Ch. Giscours (3rd GCC)
Country/Region: Bordeaux, France
Background:
La Sirène de Giscours 2017 is the elegant, fruit-forward second wine of Château Giscours, a prestigious 3rd Growth estate in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux, France. The 2017 vintage is an accessible, medium-bodied blend known for its aromatic notes of red fruits, rose hips, and tobacco.
Winemaking:
Due to the notable spring frost in 2017, the winemaking team enforced exceptionally rigorous parcel selection, ensuring only the highest quality fruit made it into the blend. Aged for approximately 18 months in oak barrels, receiving the exact same meticulous care as the estate's flagship wine.
Grapes: 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc
Tasting note: Medium garnet-purple in color, it has very pretty kirsch and rose hip tea notes with a core of red plums and hints of cloves and forest floor. The palate is medium-bodied, chewy and fresh with a good core of fragrant fruit and an earthy finish.
Food Pairing:
Featuring silky tannins and bright red/black fruit with subtle tobacco and spice notes, it pairs beautifully with roasted, grilled, or braised meats. For example, ribeye steak, beef tenderloin, or a gourmet steak sandwich.
